The SES uses a dynamic and contextual approach to evaluate and classify the harmfulness of substances in consumer products.
The system employs a weighted scoring algorithm that considers toxicity, exposure risk, and bioaccumulation potential. The algorithm adjusts the weighting based on the product category and its typical use.
Each product will display its rating prominently on the packaging, along with a reference to our website, where detailed information about what each rating means and the importance of avoiding certain substance will be provided.
While the system relies on producer-provided ingredients lists, it includes mechanisms for random spot checks and collaboration with third-party labs for verification.
Each tested and certified product will receive a safety label on its packaging. The four safety categories are: Safe, Low Risk, Moderate Risk, High Risk. The label will include a product code and a reference to our website. This enables consumers to easily learn more about what the rating means, allowing them to make an informed choice for which product to purchase.
This is only an exemplar. This product has not been tested or certified by us. The picture above is a mock-up visual, illustrating how the rating could be presented on the packaging in order to be readily identified by shoppers.
